This lecture focuses on environments and layout in visual storytelling to enhance the overall experience of animation, comics, film, or gaming. Professor
Elvin Hernandez will view and study environments as characters within the storytelling structure and how they relate to the action being played throughout the scene. Elements of perspective, line weight, and texture will be touched upon as well. Elvin Hernandez is a faculty member of the Animation Department within the Art Institute of Washington, DC. He is a freelance comic book artist and illustrator, mostly working with Kaiser Studio Productions, and is working on a book for Focal Press, which concentrates on background and layout design.
